Our Story So Far
In 2013 we set-up a Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO), Denby Dale Community Project, to save our threatened village library. Our aim was to raise sufficient funds to replace the old library building, by constructing and establishing a new community building.
Between 2013-15 we raised over £240,000 from a wide range of donors – click on the Donors page to read more.
In 2014 we were the first library in Kirklees to recruit a team of volunteers, to support Kirklees Library Service’s professional staff.
In 2015 we acquired the freehold to the old building and car park, thanks to an asset transfer from Kirklees Council.
Between 2015 and 2016 we worked with a contractor, Huddersfield based Zubarah, to get the building constructed.
On 28 January 2017 we finally opened!
